How long is the conference?
The conference starts on Friday evening and continues through until Sunday afternoon.

What does it cost?
Registration is $100 per individual when pre-registering either online or in the mail. Registration is available at the door for $105. Registration includes admission to any and all lectures, all receptions, and access to the trade show (Sasturday evening dinner is an additional $45). As part of the conference, there are three breaks where free refreshments are provided. There are also refreshments offered at the evening receptions. In addition, you will receive a proceedings manual which includes written papers by our speakers (value $25), a delegate bag with sponsor donated items, identification badge and lanyard, and many chances to win prizes throughout the weekend.

What are the benefits of pre-registering?
Pre-registrations will receive a small discounted rate ($5/person), check in at the door is faster and in addition, all pre-registrations are eligible for early bird registration prizes (if registering by December 1st).

When does online registration open?
Online registration opens in September.

What time does the on-site registration open?
The conference registration desk opens on the Friday at 6pm. Our lovely registration ladies (Dawn, Maxine, Sharon, and Shirley) have full time jobs and volunteer their time for the weekend. Opening the registration at 6 pm ensures delegates have an hour to register prior to the Friday night reception, which begins at 7pm.

What forms of payment do you accept at the door?
We accept cash, cheque, major credit cards (except America Express), and debit. 

How much is parking?
Parking is free.

Are meals included in the registration cost?
No, in an effort to keep registration fees affordable, meals are not included. *** ThIs information is currently being updated, check back for local restaurants close to the Strathcona County Community Centre. Refreshments are provided at the morning and afternoon break, as well as snacks during the Friday night and Saturday night reception. For lunch and dinner, the Sheraton Red Deer has two food outlets just steps away from the session rooms. In addition, there is a concession set up in the trade show area for your convenience. You are also welcome to bring a bag lunch or visit any of the restaurants in Red Deer.

How is the schedule laid out?
Speaker topics are either 50 minutes or 90 minutes in length. Other than our plenary sessions, there are two conference rooms running at the same time so you have the choice of which topic you wish to attend.

I’m from out of town, is there a hotel that offers a reduced rate?
Yes, we have room blocks set up with some local hotels (rates may vary), indicate you are with the annual Alberta Horse Conference and contact either of the following hotels: The Holiday Inn & Conference Centre Sherwood Park at 1-780-464-4900, The Ramada Sherwood Park at 1-780-467-6727, Super 8 Sherwood Park at 1-780-464-1000. Do I have to stay for the entire weekend?
No, you are welcome to stay for the entire three days but you may come and go as you please.

Why are certain businesses in the trade show?
The trade show is open to all equine businesses and organizations. We approach them throughout the year and tell them about our trade show. If you know of a business that you think would benefit from exhibiting, please tell them about us! 

Are CE credits available?
Yes, The Alberta Horse Conference applies annually for the approval of CE (Continuing Education) credits through the Alberta Veterinary Medicine Association (ABVMA) for registered veterinarians and animal health technicians. Generally, 8 hours of CE credits are approved.
