Three D Jewel, aka Julie, is a 1996 AQHA mare and the matron of a small band of quality show mares at Silver Line Farms near Sylvan Lake, owned by Lisa and Steve Schiestel. She was sired by one of the most prolific AQHA show stallions to stand in Alberta, Three Dimension Zip. Five years ago, when Lisa Schiestel was starting her breeding program, she knew of the mare’s record and potential and actively sought to purchase her.

Julie has always exuded a quiet confidence which led to her early success in the show ring. She competed for only two years but amassed an impressive record of titles including North Star Futurity 2 year old Western Pleasure Champion, Gold Rush Futurity 2 year old Western Pleasure Champion, Canadian National 2 year old Western Pleasure Champion, Silver Chalice Futurity 2 year old Western Pleasure, 1998 Open Performance register of merit and 1999 Open Superior Western Pleasure. She earned 63.5 AQHA Western Pleasure points and collected $2,119.96 in earnings.

Julie sits in the middle of three generations of Gold Rush Western Pleasure 2 year old futurity winners. Her dam, Hyline Bobby June, was the 1987 champion and her daughter, Three D Western, the 2006 winner. Three D Western has a show record rivaling her mother’s with many championships, including Canadian National Champion in three classes and qualification for the AQHA world show.

Three D Western is not the only one of Julie’s offspring to succeed in the show ring. Her 2007 son Diggnity began his show career in August of 2009 and won the Harvest Gold 2 year old Western Pleasure Futurity Champion.

Three D Jewel passes her confident, “been there, done that” attitude on to her foals giving them the strength and mental aptitude to handle early training and enter the show pen as well broke two year olds. She has two foals, from 2008 and 2009, that are the current up and comers at the farm, one an excellent stallion prospect. With Julie just 13, the Schiestels anticipate many more “jewels” from their matron before she reaches her well-earned retirement.
